In the picturesque town of Concord, a new and exciting venture has taken flight, all thanks to the unstoppable duo of Tom and Michele Burke. After two decades of running their highly successful fence business, B&B Fence Company, this dynamic couple have made an even greater impact on their local economy and community. And what better way to have do so then by indulging in their exceptional love and knowledge of wine! Thus, the idea for Still on the Hill Winery & Spirits was bornn.

New York's Wine Renaissance is Just Beginning!

A Brief History of New York's Wines & Wineries...
Did you know that New York is the third largest wine producing state in the country? With 1,600 family-owned vineyards, more than 40 wine grape varieties are grown here!
The history of New York wine starts off as early as the late 18th century. However, due to the cooler climate, Vitis Vinifera vines struggled and inevitably died. But some of the native American hybrids—especially Isabella and Catawba—proved hardy enough to survive the cold winters and diseases, and produced enjoyable wines.
It wasn't until the 1960s, when Ukrainian immigrant Dr. Konstantin Frank proved that it was possible to grow Vitis Vinifera using the right rootstocks and techniques. Thanks to Dr. Frank, New York was soon producing grape varietals that other parts of the world were already growing!
In 1976 the Farm Winery Act was passed enabling smaller grape growing farms to begin producing wine! This, in conjunction with Dr. Frank’s finding, was about to put New York on the map! Over the next 40 years New York would grow from just a handful of wineries, to now nearly 500!
And thanks to this act, Still on the Hill Winery & Spirits will be opening on December 2nd!
